Find missing translation keys

Drop your source file and one translation to see which keys are missing, which are left over, and where the placeholders don’t match.

Nested or flat JSON .jsonSource and one translation, compared key by key
1Source

Drop the source file

The language you write in, e.g. en.json

2Translation

Drop one translation

The language to check, e.g. de.json

Both files are read in this browser and never leave it. Drop both at once and they fill the two zones; swap them if the order is wrong.

The check runs as soon as both files are in, and reports in four groups:

  • Missing in the translationKeys the source has and the translation lacks.
  • Not in the sourceKeys only the translation has: left over or misspelt.
  • Placeholder deviationsA placeholder missing, unexpected, or renamed, like {count} to {n}.
  • Other QA findingsEdge whitespace, double spaces, empty values, end punctuation, broken ICU syntax.

Mergua runs these checks for you, on every upload and every push.

In the editor each finding sits on its key, and every mergua.sh push from your pipeline is checked the same way.
